The family entertains often and hosts large family dinner parties. A custom two-level marble island spans the entire length of the kitchen and offers bar and table seating for 9, allowing the whole family to gather together in the kitchen, separate
For more intimate, day-to-day living, the breakfast nook opposite the island offers a light filled, airy, yet cozy place to enjoy a meal.
The marble in the kitchen is treated, and lit, as if it were a piece of art. The large backsplash is framed by the contrasting black millwork. A custom composition of sculptural rectilinear lights appears to float in the air above.
The bar also features a full-height marble backsplash and custom glass shelving, which stores the more decorative entertaining ware.
The family room lies just off the kitchen, and features an all new fireplace wall, and new furniture and lighting. The clients’ love of graphic elements, stark contrast, and rich texture are reflected in the sumptuous, yet inviting space.
A suede wallcovering with a three-dimensional relief pattern lines the wall that frames the view into the kitchen, and provides a luxurious backdrop to suspended artwork and floating desk and shelves
The illuminated shelves provide task light for the workstation, and wash the wallpaper in soft light.
The fireplace wall is composed of marble, walnut wood, and blackened steel. It’s strong, orthogonal composition anchors the room, and features both art display space, and a slim bench for guests to perch on.
